I am planning on taking 6 weeks short term disability through my work for my pregnancy and I want to take the last six weeks on FMLA leave. What is the process for taking FMLA leave? Do I need to fill out some sort of application for that or what?? And do I have to have medical certification for pregnancy on FMLA leave?

I know women do not usually deploy during pregnancy and they get approximately six weeks of convalescent leave after giving birth, but do they deploy after six weeks or do they stay on shore and work on shore for some time? It is almost impossible for me to believe that the Navy would leave a 2-month old child without its mother for up to 6 months.

I am barely at 30 days, but testing negative for pregnancy with pains in abdomen/ lower back. Doctor wants a sono of the pelvic area. I am waiting for my husband’s insurance to kick in too.
